In January of 2022 RCS long time client the UFC reached out to RCS on a new sport they have been developing. The Power Slap league is the premiere slap fighting oganization led by Dana White. Power Slap features competitors from across the globe battling on the ultimate stage to showcase their power, technique and resolve. Throughout 2022 RCS worked with the Power Slap production and creative services team on the design, statistic layouts and workflow to present the best story lines.
Ahead of the the launch of Power Slap 1 in Las Vegas on March 11th, 2023 at the UFC Apex, RCS began collaborating with the creative services and design company 160over90 on the buildout of the new remote and studio graphics packages. The design was a streamlined look to reflect the new brand values established by 160over90. Starting with motion theory, RCS built out a full suite of real-time elements, including the title card, tale of the tape and fight clock. The RCS development team then mapped out a new graphics workflow for Power Slaps remote productions. Included was a user-friendly template data interface that populates the real-time graphic elements with both historical and real-time flight data.
Concurrently, the RCS hardware team designed specialized, micro footprint RCS Bullets, which have become the standard for Vizrt-based graphics hardware on Power Slap event productions around the world.
The week leading up to Power Slap 1, an RCS team traveled to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas to collaborate with the production crew on testing and rehearsing the entire real-time graphics package and workflow. Power Slap 1 featuring Darius the Destroyer vs Wolverine was a monster success from both a live event and with riveting fights up and down the card.
RCS continues to collaborate with Power Slap on future events and new production ideas. RCS provides production consultation, graphics support and hardware rental systems for all major Power Slap events worldwide.
A successful launch in 2023 pushed Power Slap into the mainstream by focusing on athleticism, competition and star power. The simple but bold real-time broadcast graphics that RCS created from that new brand are as powerful today as they were on that historic sping night at the UFC Apex. RCS continues to collaborate with the Power Slap to develop innovative graphics solutions across their content portfolio.
